5:9
You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I Jehovah your God
am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the
third and fourth generation of those who hate Me.
Deuteronomy 7:10 He repays those who hate
Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slow to repay him who hates
Him. He will repay him to his face.
Deuteronomy 7:15 Jehovah will take away from
you all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt which you know
upon you. But He will lay them upon all who hate you.
Amos 5:21 [God says] I hate, I despise your
feast days, and I will not delight in your solemn assemblies.
SECOND RULE:
If we kill somebody, we will be innocent in God's eyes only if we did not hate
that person.
Deuteronomy
19:6 so that the avenger of the blood may not pursue the slayer while his heart
is hot, and overtake him because the way is long, and kill him, and he had no
sentence worthy of death, for he did not hate him in time past.
THIRD RULE: Hatred
is petty. A king of Israel who hated was shown to be foolish in his hatred. He
hated a prophet for telling the truth.
I Kings 22:8
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is still one man,
Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of Jehovah. But I hate him, for
he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.
2Chronicles 18:7 And the king of Israel said
to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah. But I
hate him, for he never prophesied good to me, but always evil. The same is
Micaiah.
FOURTH RULE: Hatred
is often aimed at God's people. God views those who hate His people as "guilty."
Psalms 9:13 Have mercy on me, O Jehovah; see
my trouble from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death.
Psalms 34:21
Evil shall slay the wicked; and those who hate the righteous shall be
held guilty.
Psalms 69:4
They who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; they
who would destroy me are mighty, my lying enemies.
Psalms 86:17
Show me a token for good, so that they who hate me may see and be
ashamed; because You, Jehovah, have helped me and comforted me.
Proverbs 8:36
But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul; all who hate me love
death.
Amos 5:10
They hate him who rebukes in the gate, and they despise him who speaks
uprightly.
FIFTH RULE:
We are to love truth and justice. This means, we are to hate
anything untrue. Hate ideas -- not people.
Psalms 119:104 Through Your Commandments I
get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
Psalms 119:113
I hate half-hearted thoughts; but Your Law do I love.
Psalms 119:128
Therefore I count all Your Commandments concerning all things to be
right; I hate every false way.
Psalms 119:163
I hate and despise lying; but I love Your Law.
Proverbs 1:22 How long will you love
simplicity, simple ones? And will scorners delight in their scorning? And will fools hate knowledge?
Proverbs 8:13
The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; I hate pride, and arrogance, and the
evil way, and the wicked mouth.
Proverbs 9:8
Do not reprove a scorner, lest he hate you; give to a wise man, and he
will love you.
Isaiah 61:8 For I Jehovah love judgment, I
hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I
will make an everlasting covenant with them.
Micah 3:9 Please hear this, heads of the
house of Jacob, and magistrates of the house of Israel, who hate justice and
pervert all equity.
SIXTH RULE:
God hates it when we don't love people around us, whoever they
are. Both Old Testament and New Testament teach this.
Zechariah 8:17 And let each devise no evil
in your heart against his neighbor; and love no false oath. For all these are
things that I hate, says Jehovah.
Matthew 5:43-46
You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and
hate your enemy." But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless those who
curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully
use you and persecute you, so that you may become sons of your Father in Heaven.
For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the
just and on the unjust. For if you love
those who love you, what reward do you have?
Do not even the tax-collectors do the same?
SEVENTH RULE: When people hate us, we should not be surprised. It is
a confirmation that we are on God's side. This means that if YOU hate somebody,
you are demonstrating that the person you hate is with God's cause, and you are
not.
Luke 6:22
Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall cut you off,
and when they shall reproach you and shall cast out your name as evil, for the
sake of the Son of Man.
Luke 6:27
But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate
you.
Luke 6:28
Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you.
Our thanks to Pastor Joe Bubar of Grace Bible Church, Arroyo Grand, California, for a closing thought about hatred:
To overcome hatred we need to remember that God is in control: "There is nothing—no circumstance, no trouble, no testing—that can ever touch me until, first of all, it has gone past God and past Christ, right through to me. If it has come that far, it has come with a great purpose, which I may not understand at the moment, but as I refuse to become panicky, as I lift up my eyes to him and accept it as coming from the throne of God for some great purpose of blessing to my own heart, no sorrow will ever disturb me, no trial will ever disarm me, no circumstance will cause me to fret, for I shall rest in the joy of what my Lord is." -- Pastor and author Alan Redpath (1907–1988)
Conclusion from Richard Palmquist, Chief Financial Officer of Truth Radio:
The above is official Truth Radio policy. If you have a problem with it, I suggest you take up your problem with the Lord. Truth Radio believes strongly in First Amendment rights. Your lips may freely speak what your heart believes. That is your right. However, it is also the right of Truth Radio to have a plumb line against which we measure your message in terms of our agreement or disagreement with what you teach. This statement responds to the charges of such unfortunate intelligence-challenged people as Morris Dees and others, who have labeled Truth Radio as a "hate group."
