Words are important. We are warned in the book of Revelation to be careful the way we handle God's Word: Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book :19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. However, the Apostle Paul says it is important to use the Word carefully, not to entice, but to demonstrate the Holy Spirit with power: 1Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: Paul also tells us to be sure that when we communicate we do so for positive reasons. He warned Timothy: 1Timothy 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Paul, in his second letter to Timothy emphasized this point: 2Timothy 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. Truth Radio wants our words to build you up, not to tear down. When it comes to understanding each other, it is important that each of us seeks to understand the correct definition of those words we use. Speak and write as the Spirit prompts you. Do it within the limits of the Bible's words, and do it to build up, not to tear down, to profit not to diminish. -- Richard Palmquist Send email to frontoffice@truthradio.com with questions or comments about this subject. |
