Is that true today? Not since the people of the United States revolted against King George. Back then, George was the sovereign and he ruled over the executives who constituted government. When our forefathers won the war against Old England, they decided they did not want a second King George. They even put the question to George Washington. Some wanted him to become king. He refused. In doing that, he crowed a new Caesar. Who is that new Caesar today? It is "We the People." Government still weilds power and it is still important for individuals to live at peace with government officials, but Caesar is now "We the People." So, pick up your Bible and read Romans 13 again. Everywhere Paul writes that his readers should be "subject," carefully define who is to be subject to whom. If the lights go on, you will realize that what Paul is writing for us today is that GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES need to subject themselves to the sovereinty of We the people. Not "me the person:" we the people. That sovereignty is exercized as we serve on Juries, volunteer to serve on Grand Juries, vote in honest elections, run for office, and in rare occasions effect citizens' arrests. -- Richard Palmquist Send email to frontoffice@truthradio.com with questions or comments about this subject. |
